You know, it’s hard to come up with a title for every post that captures what’s going on (more than just “update”). The pajama dance party on Friday went very well. We almost didn’t have it, as the girls were charged to pick up their room before we could have it. At 6:45 pm, their room was still a wreck, but they suprised me. It’s amazing what motivation can do! I put on a wierd selection for them, but they loved it. We played songs from “Priscilla, Queen of the Desert”, Beastie Boys, and Gypsy Kings. After a few songs from each, they got a bit bored and wanted to move along to the movie (Mulan 2) with popcorn. They said the next day that they had a really good time. Part of my motivation for having the “party” was that Melissa missed one Girl Scout meeting where they were having a pajama dance party, and that was one of the activities for one of the badges that they earned. So, we just did it at home. So far, Melissa has got five badges: Manners, Dancercize, Make It Eat It, Cookies Count, and Art To Wear. I’ve got her looking through the book to see if there are any badges she would like to earn on her own. She seems to show an interest in “Write Away”, which has different writing activities, like writing a story or a letter to a friend.
The demo practice this weekend also went well. I’m going to be in the roll line and one of the skits. (For an example of a dive roll, see the video clip posted on the Bujinkan Macon Dojo at: http://www.maconbudoka.com/images/video/clip16.wmv The skit is of me & Kathy in simple kimonos (not the ones with the 14 million layers), walking along. Two guys come in to attack, and we take them down. It’s pretty cool. I’m looking forward to the demo, but most importantly, into training again. I’ve really missed it.
Along with training, I’ve slowly been losing weight since Rachel’s birth, and as of last week was at 132.6. At 132 (and below), I don’t have to pay for my Weight Watchers meetings! YAY! I’m in a comfortable size 10, and can fit into my size 8 jeans, but they are still a little tight. I doubt I’d ever get into a size 6 again (realistically). But I’m feeling really good. In just an hour I’ll go to my regular Tuesday meeting to see if I’ve gotten below 132. Wish me luck!
